Renaissance Diamond Ring with Enamel

I was fortunate to find a trio of Renaissance table cut diamonds in their original rub over settings, such a treasure trove. Each of the three is different, this beauty has an original black enamel flourish jauntily positioned. We decided on a simple elegant round band for this beautiful piece of history. Using recycled 14k gold, the band was hand crafted by our in-house jeweler. Unique, timeless, incomparable.

The rub-over setting was a common way to set diamonds and gems prior to the 19thc.  Similar to a collet setting but then the upper edge would be rubbed over the girdle of the stone to hold it. This also aided in keeping air and water out from behind the diamond to keep the foil at the back of the gem from tarnishing.

Our 720 line of jewels marries the timeless aesthetic of vintage jewelry with a modern sensibility. We use metal from a green-certified refinery, and the gems are sourced from our collection of vintage and antique stones, in this case in its original setting.

Details.....Currently a size 6. The top of the ring measures 6mm by 6.2mm, and the band is 1.9mm wide.
