This stunning and highly collectible cuff bracelet was made by the renowned artist William Spratling at his workshop in Taxco, Mexico. Two hands mirror each other, Escher-like, across the top of the sterling silver cuff. Each hand holds a flower carved from purple amethyst, clamp set in long silver prongs. Silver spirals with amethyst cabochons frame the hands. This rare piece is documented in Penny C. Morrill's 2002 book William Spratling & The Mexican Silver Renaissance. Often copied, this original piece is thoroughly signed "Spratling Silver" and "Spratling Made in Mexico." A breathtaking addition to any collection of 20th-Century silver. Circa 1940.

William Spratling (1900 – 1967) was an American-born artist and silver designer best known for his influence on 20th-century Mexican silver design. In 1931, Spratling reestablished the silver industry in Taxco, Mexico, a traditional site of silver mines with no native silver working industry. Spratling based the designs for his workshop Taller de las Delicias on traditional and pre-Columbian motifs.
