The Celtic knot pattern of these silver cufflinks is based on a 1903 archaeological find at Oseberg, a farm and burial mound near Tønsberg, Norway. A well preserved Viking ship dating to around 850 AD, known as the Oseberg Ship, contained grave goods that inspired these cufflinks. The cufflinks have rectangular faces engraved with the knot work design. Oxidization and and patina give the links a sense of depth and age. Signed "Osebergfunnet Kopi CA 850 E. KR." Circa 1960.
In the Mid 20th Century the house of David-Andersen created the Saga Series jewelry collection, inspired by hoards of Viking-age jewelry unearthed from Scandinavian burial mounds.
Details.....The cufflink's face measures .81" by .51". The foot measures .75" by .50". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
