Enchanting Belle Époque Sterling, Paste & Pearl Pendant

An enchanting sterling silver and paste pendant in the exquisite Belle Époque style. Two rings of sparkling paste embellished with a garland of tiny leaves and flowers. A glowing natural pearl hangs in the pendant's heart. A silver ribbon forms a bow that ripples at the top of the pendant. The ornate, openwork body of the piece is completely encrusted with glittering paste stones. A decorative hook bale allows the pendant to be worn on a chain or, more historically accurate, a ribbon. This glamorous Belle Époque piece, with its curvilinear lines and naturalistic influences, is surprisingly affordable. Circa 1870.

Paste gems are leaded glass gems formed in molds and then polished to resemble diamonds or gemstones. With better quality-paste, facets could be cut and polished like natural gems.
