This interesting Kachina pendant appears to have a Sunface head and a Corn Maiden body. Hand made in sterling silver, this piece has a lovely texture and a glossy shine. It currently hangs on a modern sterling silver box chain, but its oversize bale will make is easy to wear on anything you like. Circa 1970.

A Kachina is an ancestral spirit of the Pueblo Indians. There are more than 500 of these spirits, and they act as intermediaries between humans and the gods. The Corn Maidens symbolize the prayers of the people for a bountiful harvest. The Sunface represents the sacred Sun Father. The Zuni honor the Sun's life sustaining warmth that enables growth and brings joy and prosperity to the people.
