These Victorian matched bracelets made of woven human hair are stunning, and a fascinating piece of jewelry history. This pair of bracelets is woven from brunette human hair with low karat rosy gold appointments in the Archeological Revival style. The clasps are spring-bezel set with fiery carnelians, and their reverse is gorgeously hand engraved with the initials "MD." They are all original and in wearable condition. It was fashionable in the mid 19th Century to wear matched bracelets, one on each wrist, a dramatic look made all the more interesting by the uniqueness of this set. Circa 1850.

During the Victorian Era it was popular to weave your hair into a piece of jewelry as a sentimental gift for a loved one. Women saved their hair for this purpose; some wove the hair themselves while some employed specialty jewelers who would weave the hair and mount it in elaborate designs.
