Audley Gold & Enamel on Silver Medal Fob

This English sterling silver medal fob bears a gold shield engraved with a knotted rope. The shield is framed with engraved laurel leaves and a blue enamel ring that reads "Audley & District Junior League 1905-6." The back of the piece is engraved: G.W. The medal is hallmarked for Birmingham, sterling silver and the years 1905-06. It is also signed with the maker's mark for Vaughton & Sons, a silversmith producing in Birmingham at the time. This ornate fob makes a lovely pendant, it will look great worn on one of our Ancient Influences married chains.

Audley is a small village in Staffordshire, England. The Audley & District Junior League was most likely a football or cricket club. The Audley family coat of arms includes a "fret" which consists of a bend and a bend sinister interlaced with a mascle. To our American eyes, unschooled in heraldry, a fret resembles a stylized knotted rope.

Details.....The medal measures 1.15" by 1.45". In Good Antique Condition, with some losses to the enamel. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
