Turquoise Nugget Necklace with Morenci Leaf Pendant

A strand of gorgeous turquoise nuggets displays a large leaf-shaped pendant carved from Morenci turquoise. The leaf's bright blue turquoise is shattered with the dark, silvery matrix that identifies the stone as Morenci. The matrix is used thoughtfully to highlight the carving. A wonderful example of the natural beauty of turquoise. The subtly graduated beads finish with silver cone terminals and a hook-and-eye clasp. Circa 1960.

The Morenci turquoise mine is located in Southeastern Arizona and has operated since 1864. This mine produces a wide range of colors; the most desirable turquoise is a deep blue color with a heavy iron pyrite matrix.

Details: The necklace is 24" long, and the pendant measures 2.07" by 2.87". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should expect all vintage and antique jewels to show some wear; we consider it part of their charm.
