In the 19th century there were several ways a dandy could show his fanciness, pocket watches, chains, fobs, cufflinks, and match safes. During the 1800's matches were sold by the piece and you had to have somewhere to put them. This pretty agate match safe is both practical and decorative with its array of white and orange bands & decorative metal edges even the striker is carved of agate.
