22k Gold Hand Engraved Roman Soldier Ring

This ring is made of 22k gold. The gentle concave of the surface is hand engraved with a Roman soldier on horseback, holding a spear. The carved surface is set in a bezel hand engraved with an arrow pattern. The outer edge of the setting has a double twisted wire embellishment, pairing beautifully with the twisted wire at the shoulder of the half-hoop style band. This ring tests as 22k gold and has all the softened edges and tiny dings I love in antique high karat gold. While this ring is difficult to date, as the techniques used to make it have been in use for many hundreds of years, I believe it is from the Archaeological Revival period of the mid 1800s.

Details.....It is difficult to measure this style of ring for finger size; that said, it is somewhere around an 11. This ring cannot be sized. The top measures 24.4mm by 16.5mm, the band measures 2.3mm wide. It weighs 12.4 grams. In Excellent Antique Condition.
