Ancient Bronze Piece Pendant with Sterling Chain

Part of a collection of small, ancient objects that have been capped in silver and converted into pendants. Here we have a chunk of ancient bronze, an elongated, grooved piece of metal capped at the top and bottom with sterling silver. The bronze is an appealing warm color, and it has a pleasing texture that is enjoyable to touch. This artifact's original purpose is a mystery to us. It is believed that Europeans may have used chunks of bronze as currency during the Bronze Age, more than 2800 years ago. Perhaps that is the origin of this fascinating piece. The pendant has a jump ring bale and hangs on a sterling silver box chain. It would look intriguing worn on one of our Ancient Influences married chains.
