A wonderful piece of Georgian Austro-Hungarian jewelry. This dramatic brooch displays the high level of detail AH jewels are known for. 800 grade silver repoussé (repoussé is a jewelry making technique favored by the metal smiths of the period that creates a three-dimensional quality) in the form of feathers and scrolling leaves is embellished with engraving and white enamel. The brooch is set with vibrant table cut emeralds and garnets. The structure of the gem set central panel and the white enameling allow us to date this piece to the late Georgian era. The brooch's generous accommodation at the engraved back and its heavier design indicates it was used to secure a man's garment. Gorgeous, and historically fascinating. Circa 1820s.
Details.....The brooch measures 1.96" by o.72". In Good antique condition. You should expect some wear with all antique and vintage pieces, we consider it to be part of their charm.
