Antique Russian Cross in Rose Gold

This lovely little antique Russian cross surely has had an interesting history. Made in the 1860s, the chubby 14k rose gold cross is engraved with a second cross that features the distinctive slanted crossbeam of the Russian Orthodox Church. The Russian Orthodox cross originated in the Byzantine Empire during the 6th century; in the modern era it is an important feature of Russia's cultural landscape. Russian gold from this era often had this rosy tone. The backside of the cross is hallmarked for Russia. The cross comes on a modern 14k rose gold chain.
