Glamorous Art Deco era door knocker earrings from the prominent German jewelry designer Theodor Fahrner. Hoops of elaborately worked sterling silver are accented with glittering marcasites. The hoops swing from matching screw-back earring tops; you can wear these wonderful earrings even if your ears aren't pierced. The unique granulation and wire work are instantly recognizable as Fahrner's work, with its stylized natural forms and moody oxidization. Exquisitely made, even the backs of these hoops are lovely. Circa 1920.
Fahrner produced some of Europe's most exciting and innovative jewelry in the 20th Century. Theodor Fahrner was one of Germany's first jewelry manufacturers. He exhibited at the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris, where he won the Silver Medal for Jewelry. After Fahrner's death in 1919, Gustav Braendle succeeded him and retained the "Fahrner-Jewelry" brand name.
Details.....The earrings are 1.50" long and .92" wide. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
