This brooch holds one of my favourite gem cuts: the buff top. The buff top gem has an interesting and varied facet pattern on the bottom and a polished, slightly domed, un-faceted top. This cut works particularly well on translucent gems as the bottom facets show nicely through the smooth surface. This yellow gold Arts & Crafts brooch is set with a rich orange-yellow citrine, and has halved and drilled river pearls set on each end of the design. Marked for 14k, circa 1910.
Details.....The jewel measures 1.30" x .53" and is in very good antique condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it a part of their charm.
