Beautiful 18k and Amethyst Snake Bracelet

A sinuous snake with green eyes forms the frame of the central amethyst. The amethysts are the deepest shade of royal purple, the buff top cut is one of my favourites from the 1800s, faceted on the back with a highly polished cabochon on the top thru which you can see the facets. A graceful and sturdy curb chain finish the bracelet. The bracelet is 18k yellow gold, the clasp added later is 14k yellow gold. Many jewels from this period  could be worn in a variety of ways, this likely didn't originally have a clasp it would have used a ribbon thru the end rings. It could then be worn in the hair, as a choker on the neck, an upper armlet or a bracelet. Mid 1800s.

Details...Measures 7 3/8" long and .65" across at the widest point. In Excellent Antique condition, you should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels we consider it a part of the charm.
