A sterling silver belt buckle embellished with the Peyote Bird symbol. The oval buckle has a high polish and engraved texture. At its center, the figure of the Peyote Bird is raised and inlaid with crushed turquoise and red coral. The Water Bird in flight has a tiny silver heart. The back of the buckle is signed with an unidentified makers mark of the combined and reversed initials "PR." Circa 1970.

The Water Bird, also known as the Peyote Bird, is a tradition of the Plains Indians. The Water Bird is connected with lightning, thunder, and visions. The Water Bird is often referred to as the Peyote Bird because it plays a significant role in the Native American Indian Church Peyote meetings.
