This striking necklace has a lot of great details going on. Coppery goldstone is set in a sterling silver teardrop-shaped pendent. The pendant hangs from a necklace made of ornate silver links that alternate with barrel beads. These incredible beads are made of layers of goldstone, tigers eye and bloodstone. The decorative sterling silver clasp is adorned with a flower blossom. So much to see, this necklace is endlessly interesting. Circa 1940.
The "gem" commonly referred to as Goldstone is in actuality a type of specialized glass. It is created by mixing copper and other metal oxides with molten glass and allowing tiny crystals of metallic copper to form.
Details.....This necklace has a wearable length of 18". The pendant measures 1.26" by 2" and the barrel beads are 0.55" by 0.46". In Very Good Vintage condition, you should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
