This sweet little brooch is a lovely and affordable example of Victorian mourning jewelry. Black glass has been moulded into floral forms: lilies arching over a forget me not. In the Victorian Language of Flowers these blossoms symbolize purity, faithfulness and remembrance. A satin finish has been applied to the glass creating the subtle, somber appearance appropriate to mourning jewels. The glass is set in a gold filled frame and secures with the C-clasp pin common to the era. Circa 1880.
Details.....The brooch measures 1.48" by 0.68". In Very Good antique condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it a part of their charm.
