Ornate Leaf-Linked Victorian Book Chain
This gold filled Victorian book chain is gorgeous. Each ornate link supports a plaque of multi colored and engraved leaves and flowers, each linked by decorative rings. The chain lays along the collar bone, an attractive length for layering or wearing alone. The chain clasps with a bolt ring that will also support a locket or pendant. Circa 1880.
The term "book chain" comes from the folded flat links' resemblance to the cover of a book. It is also said these flat chains were often used to mark a place in a book.
Details..... The chain is 19.5" long and each link measures 21.3mm long and 9.3mm wide. In Very Good Antique Condition. In vintage and antique pieces small imperfections are to be expected and considered part of their charm.
