The Victorians loved the romantic Dark Sparkle of garnet jewels and so do we. This big, beautiful Bohemian garnet brooch is a marvelous example of the style. A floral cluster of round and teardrop-shaped rose cut garnets supports articulated dangles in the forms of garlands and flowers. The lush, claret-colored garnets are set in crimped pie crust bezels. The garnets are set in jeweler's brass, also called garnet gold for its popular use in the Bohemian garnet jewels of the era. This piece is beautifully constructed, with layers of brass riveted together to create texture and three-dimensional depth. The brooch secures with a classic Victorian c-clasp. Circa 1890.
Details....The brooch measures 3.15" long, 1.75" wide and 0.60" deep. In Very Good Antique Condition. Some wear should be expected on all vintage and antique pieces, we consider it to be part of their charm.
