We are listing a selection of truly special pieces from our collection of antique mourning jewelry. These wonderful rings are incredible tokens of love and sentiment that have come down to us through history. This is the perfect opportunity to add a genuinely unique jewel to your collection.

This Georgian ring features woven hair under crystal, with a coral surround set atop an engraved gold sheet band. The crystal is bezel set and the plait of brown hair is beautifully woven. The natural red coral is set in pie crust bezels. Coral as an unusual material to see in pieces of this kind. The gold sheeted band is hand engraved with Tudor roses. Circa 1800-1810.

Mourning and sentimental jewelry held great meaning in symbolism and that is reflected in the use of colors and gems in mourning pieces. Coral traditionally represents a protection from evil, particularly for children. The unusual use of coral in this ring is somewhat mysterious.

Details.....Currently a size 6.5. This ring cannot be sized. The front of the ring measures 11.4mm wide, the back of the band measures 3.4mm. In Good condition for its age. As is, the gold sheet shows wear. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces, we consider it part of the charm.
