Cosmic Coppery Goldstone in Sterling Ring

Coppery goldstone shines like the Milky Way in this traditional sterling silver ring. An oval goldstone cabochon is set in a very fine sawtooth bezel within a frame of bubbly silver beads. The decorative top of the ring sits atop grooved shoulders that taper into a slim band. Circa 1960.

The "gem" commonly referred to as goldstone is in actuality a type of specialized glass. It is created by mixing copper and other metal oxides with molten glass and allowing tiny crystals of metallic copper to form.
