This charming Turn of the 20th Century cowrie shell necklace has fun beachy boho vibes as well as historical interest. The Victorians had a passion for natural history and loved to incorporate elements from nature into their jewelry. In this piece, a graduated swag of creamy white cowrie shells hang from a delicate sterling silver trombone chain. The chain clasps with a decorative sterling filigree slide clasp. Circa 1900.
