Cultured Pearls & Sterling Screw Back "Studs"
Mid-Century pearls in screw-back "stud" earrings. The creamy cultured pearls are displayed on sterling silver settings. The screw-backs make these classic pearl studs for a person without pierced ears. Circa 1950.
Pearls were first cultured in 1893 by Mikimoto. Cultured pearls are created by adding an irritant, such as a grain of sand or small bead, to a pearl oyster to encourage it to cover the irritant in nacre, thus creating a pearl.
Details.....The pearls measure 7mm in diameter. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should expect all vintage and antique jewels to show some wear; we consider it part of their charm.
