A daring Art Moderne sapphire and diamond ring that was born to enjoy a Negroni or two in the Hotel Apache lounge. Cornflower blue sapphire glistens like Frank Sinatra's eyes, set in a brawny 14k gold band. The top of the band is heavy, squared off, with softened edges. Two pinstripes are engraved vertically down the center, and the 2.16ct oval cut sapphire sits in the middle, held securely in four prongs. Two sparkling round diamonds flank the gem, each white gold bezel set within a depression deeper than Shirley Temple's dimples. The gently tapered shank is substantial with a pleasing weight. A ring of distinction, having both gravitas and, as Diana Vreeland would say, pizzazz. Circa 1930.
This ring comes with an insurance replacement cost appraisal. The appraisal comes from an independent gem lab. The appraised value is $5900.
Gem Details.....The sapphire is a 2.16ct oval faceted cut, eye-clean and transparent, with Medium light, Very Slightly Grayish, violetish Blue (vB 4/3) color. Two old European cut diamonds have a .36tcw, with SI1-I1 clarity and H-I-J color range.
Details.....Currently a size 11.5. The top of the ring measures 19mm by 11.8mm, and the band is 3.9mm wide. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
