A darling sterling silver Corn Maiden pendant created using the Hopi overlay technique, in which a carved layer of polished silver is applied to a layer of oxidized silver creating a shadow box effect of contrasting textures. The Maiden hangs on a recycled sterling silver cable chain. Signed on the back with the Hopi silver craft guild's Sunface mark and with Hopi silversmith Stetson Lomayestewa's crescent moon and star mark. Circa 1980.

Across Native American cultures, the Corn Maidens symbolize the prayers of the people for a bountiful harvest.

Details.....The chain is 20" long. The Maiden measures 0.42" by 1.19", 1.34" with bale. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should expect some wear on all vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
