Deep Purple Amethyst in Engraved Victorian Band

The color of this amethyst is exceptional. An incredibly deep, rich, bright purple oval-cut amethyst is claw set in a Cigar Band-style ring. The shoulders of the ring are ornate and richly engraved. In the 19th century "Cigar Band" referred to this popular style of wide, thin, decorated bands. This ring is an English piece, not hallmarked, and it is likely the amethyst hails from Russia. The world's loveliest amethyst gems are found in Russia's Ural Mountains. Circa 1890.

Details.....Currently a size 6.5, one free sizing is included with the purchase. The ring measures 9.6mm by 7.4mm at the gem set top and 3mm at the back of the band. In Very Good vintage condition, a sizing mark to the back of the band. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
