Dramatic Taxco Onyx Mask Panel Bracelet

This Mexican silver panel bracelet is set with a row of dramatic black onyx masks. The fabulous masks are bezel set in panels embellished with repoussé domes of sterling silver and delicate wire work. The integrated slide clasp is marked "Taxco" and "Mexico." Circa 1960.

The city of Taxco is an important center for Mexican silver jewelry design. During the 1940s Taxco drew jewelry artists from all over the world. The main attraction for designers and studio jewelers was the abundance of locally mined materials like silver and semi-precious gems.
