A lovely Vinaigrette, shaped like a little pocket watch with a pretty engine turned design this vinaigrette will make a fun pendant to be worn on your Ancient influences chain. My favourite part of this jewel is the name engraved on the front...M. Quirk! The inside is Hallmarked for Sterling, Thomas Shaw, Birmingham, 1829-30. Shaw was a well known box maker in the 1st half of the 19thc. the pretty pierced lid and the inside are gilded in gold.
A vinaigrette was made to hold a bit of cotton or fabric with a scent on it, meant to be held to your nose when walking the very smelly streets in Victorian England.
Details...Measures 1.62" long including the ring, and 1.09" across at the widest point. In Very Good Antique Condition, you should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels we consider it a part of the charm.
