Elaborate Silver Gilt & "Sapphire" Paste Antique Bracelet

An elaborate silver gilt and "sapphire" paste bracelet displaying the luxurious detail Austro-Hungarian jewels are known for. The bracelet is exquisitely constructed, with openwork floral links, a decorative integrated clasp, and a security chain for luck. Midnight blue paste gems are set in closed back bezels on every link. The tongue of the decorative clasp is hallmarked for silver fineness and place of origin. Paste gems are leaded glass gems formed in molds and then polished to resemble diamonds or gemstones. With better quality pastes, facets could even be cut and polished like natural gems.
