Handsome Deco Styled Elgin Pocket Watch

This handsome Elgin pocket watch has great Art Deco styling. The open faced, nickel finish case is engraved around the edges and its back bears a blank shield, ready to be engraved with a date or monogram. Its dial and subdial are painted with Arabic numerals and the face is subtly patterned. The 17 jewel movement is signed "Elgin Natl Watch Co. U.S.A." and with the serial number "29009482." Circa 1920.

The Elgin Watch Company was a major US watch maker from 1864 to 1968. For nearly 100 years the company's manufacturing complex in Elgin, Illinois, was the largest site dedicated to watchmaking in the world.
