This sterling silver medal fob with a round shield of applied gold is hallmarked for England but engraved with the name of an Irish city. The interesting piece dates to the beginning of World War I. The medal is a balanced cross, with engraved budded arms. The shield is engraved with initials so ornate it is difficult to interpret them; we think it reads "AD." The back of the medal is hand-engraved with an accordion marked "Killarney." This fob will look fabulous on one of our Ancient Influences' married chains.
The piece is hallmarked for Birmingham, sterling silver, and 1916, as well as the maker's mark L&W.
Details: The medal measures 1.34" by 1.57". In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
