Lovely Victorian earrings are getting harder to find, and this pair is especially fine. The top of the 15ct gold earrings are half-spheres on French ear wires. The body of the earring is a decorative panel, shaped rather like a half-torpedo with flourished wings and embellished with Etruscan Revival designs of applied wire and bead work. A gold ball is suspended from the bottom. The earrings are hinged at the top and the bottom of the panels. They move beautifully when worn, and they aren't too heavy on the ear. A light gold bloom covers the surface. Bloom is an alluring iridescent effect that occasionally develops on antique gold. These are marvelous, as dramatic as they are wearable. Circa 1870.
Details.....The earrings measure 1.91" by 0.55" and the ball is 12.2mm in diameter. In Very Good Antique Condition. Some wear is to be expected on vintage and antique jewels, it a part of their charm.
