Inky Blue Sapphire Halo Ring with a Past
gorgeous inky blue sapphire ring has a mysterious history. The 0.75ct emerald cut sapphire is surrounded by a 0.25tcw halo of old mine cut diamonds, all set in a panel of milgrained platinum. The gem-set top sits in a sleek 18k gold gallery over a wide half round gold band. This band is not original; it likely began its life as a simple wedding band. It bears an engraved inscription that is interrupted by the decorative top of the piece. The inscription is, to our eyes, beautiful but mostly illegible. The overall effect is bold and beautiful, with a fabulous unisex quality. What a wonderful and unexpected engagement ring this would make. Circa 1909.
