We are listing a selection of truly special pieces from our collection of antique mourning jewelry. These wonderful rings are incredible tokens of love and sentiment that have come down to us through history. This is the perfect opportunity to add a genuinely unique jewel to your collection.

This exquisite mourning ring was made in London in the earliest days of Queen Victoria's reign. An elaborate 18k gold ring features woven hair under a bevel edged crystal surrounded by matte black enamel. The crystal and enamel are framed in richly engraved gold. The gold and black enamel create a dramatic contrast. The split shoulders are lovingly hand engraved with flowers and scrolling leaves. This ring is hallmarked for London, 18k gold and the year 1840.

The Victorians held great meaning in symbolism and that is reflected in the use of colors and gems in mourning pieces. The black enamel on this ring represents the deep love and grief felt for the deceased. What an extraordinary and beautiful piece of history.

Details.....Currently a size 7.25. This ring cannot be sized. The front of the ring measures 12mm by 12.3mm, the back of the band measures 4.1mm. In Very Good condition for its age, there is a chip in the crystal. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces, we consider it part of the charm.
