A bold and graphic faceted black glass bar pin. Dating to the late Victorian era, this mourning brooch glitters with a wonderful dark sparkle. The pin secures with the brass C-clasp pin common to the era. Circa 1890.

Queen Victoria was in mourning for her husband for decades; as a result mourning attire became fashionable in society. Jet and onyx were the most prestigious materials used in mourning jewelry. Black glass, often called French jet,  was commonly used as a more affordable and available material. 

Details.....The brooch measures 3" by 0.50". In Very Good Antique condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it a part of their charm.
