This popular earring form from the very early 19th century was and is referred to as Torpedo. Usually found dangling from a delicate top these long pendulum shaped earrings were all the rage and can be found in gold, gemstone, and the popular and affordable gold substitute of the era pinchbeck. Pinchbeck is a metal comprised of alloys with no gold content yet it stays an intriguing gold color. This pair is unusually fabulous for the mesh like open work that give them a lighter than air look while keeping their substantial size as was the style. Circa 1820.

Details.....2.73" long, .46" wide at drop. They are in very good condition for their age, the earwires are 14k gold replacements. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
