Shards of petrified walrus tusk give this interesting necklace its fierce appeal. The natural tusk beads have subtle variance in color and pattern. They graduate in size and alternate with tiny round spacer beads. Strung on silk and finished with a hidden drilled and threaded tusk clasp. Powerful. Circa 1920.
The Alaskan gold rush unearthed a great deal of petrified mammoth and walrus tusk. We often see these fascinating materials used in jewelry dating to the turn of the 20th Century.
Details.....Necklace is 30" long. The longest bead measures 1.25" long. In Very Good Antique condition. You should always expect some wear on your antique and vintage jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
