All of the classic Art Nouveau elements are present in this alluring Foster & Bailey locket. Stylized themes from nature and romantic feminine motifs are rendered in ebullient whiplash lines. The repoussé metal working technique gives this sterling silver piece its three-dimensional quality. The front of the locket features the profile of a young woman with flowing tresses swirling about her head. She has a beautiful face. A blowsy water lily blossom is tucked behind her ear.  Water lilies and pads curl around the locket's edge. The back of the locket is not engraved, unusual for this period. The frames are intact and the clasp is nice and secure. Signed F&B. Circa 1900.

Foster & Bailey was an American silversmith based out of Providence, RI. Active from 1873 to 1951, they created fine silver housewares as well as jewelry.

Details.....The new recycled sterling chain is 18" long. The locket measures 1.5" across. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
