This early 19th century brooch features a wonderful example of palette work, a method of working locks of human hair into incredibly delicate and detailed images that are usually highly personal and symbolic. A cornucopia overflowing with flowers, a feather and the initials A.R. are all picked out in hair and natural pearls and sealed under glass. The frame is luxurious, scrolled 18k gold. What a beautiful and personal piece of jewelry history. The brooch is hallmarked for Belgium. Circa 1820s.

Details.....The brooch measures 1.29" by 1.13". In Very Good Condition for its age. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
