Twelve strands of tiny natural pearls trail from the 18k gold clasp. The clasp is enameled in a deep blue and set with pearls under a reverse carved crystal which depicts a kneeling grieving woman being held by a robed man. The clasp has more pearls prong set around the edge. Pearls often represented tears and innocence. This necklace circa dates to the very early 19th c.
