Graduated Pearl Necklace with Diamond Clasp
This lustrous princess length strand of pearls has a lovely diamond set platinum clasp. The creamy cultured pearls are graduated in size and hand knotted on white silk. The engraved platinum clasp is set with 0.20 tcw of sparkling old European cut diamonds. The luster and sheen of the pearls is lovely. Circa 1940.
Pearls were first cultured in 1893 by Mikimoto. Cultured pearls are created by adding an irritant, such as a grain of sand or small bead to a pearl oyster to encourage it to cover the irritant in nacre, thus creating a pearl.
Details....The necklace measures 18" long. The pearls graduate range in size from 3.3mm to 7.4mm. The clasp measures 12.8mm by 5.9mm. In Very Good Vintage condition. You should always expect some wear on Vintage and Antique Jewels, we consider it a part of the charm.
