Sophisticated 970 grade silver and onyx cufflinks from the significant Mexican artist Antonio Pineda. Rectangle silver faces are bisected by black onyx inlay, the effect is clean-lined and graphic. The onyx shows some slight chipping. Classic toggle fasteners make them easy to wear. These collectible cufflinks bear Pineda's maker's mark, as well as the Mexican Eagle 17 mark. Circa 1940.

The Mexican city of Taxco is renown for the production of superb silver jewelry. Its abundant silver and semi-precious gems attracted designers and studio jewelers from all over the world. Antonio Pineda was born in Taxco in 1919. He apprenticed with William Spratling before opening his own workshop in 1939. Pineda's Modernist style was bold and architectural, and his jewelry is amongst the most technically refined ever made in Taxco.

Details.....The cufflink faces measure .88" by .43". In Good Vintage Condition as found, with slight chipping to the onyx. You should expect some wear on all vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of its charm.
