A guapo figural brooch from the important artist Margot de Taxco. A man dressed in traditional Mexican garb, including a sombrero and serape, is depicted in enameled sterling silver. The colorful champlevé enamel is wonderful. This brooch fastens with a security clasp. The back is signed "Margot de Taxco," "Sterling Made in Mexico," and with the early eagle 16 sterling mark. It is also marked with the design number 5419. Margot de Taxco designs were numbered 5100 to 5790, so this is her 319th design. This piece was made around 1948, at the height of her career.
Details.....The brooch measures 1.07" by 1.72". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces; we consider it part of the charm.
