This gorgeous necklace features a strand of Heishi shell beads studded with natural turquoise nuggets. The Heishi beads are glossy and the color of the turquoise is vivid and so pretty. The graduated beads are freshly strung on black silk and finished with a sterling silver hook and eye clasp. Circa 1970.
Heishi are small disc or tube-shaped beads made of shells or stones. They originate with the Kewa Pueblo people of New Mexico.
Details.....The necklace is 17" long. The Heishi beads graduate from 2.8mm to 10mm, the largest turquoise nugget is 19.2mm by 11.8mm. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on your vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
