This Gothic Revival watch pull would made a dramatic and beautiful pendant. Blackened 900 grade silver panels are embellished with rose gold detail. The ornate panels finish in a matching locket. The piece is hallmarked with thistles and roses, indicating it was made in Hungary, circa 1870. Wear it on a chain, attach it to your belt, hang it from your purse or...why not? wear it on your pocket watch.
A watch pull is a flattish chain which traditionally would have a decorative or seal fob at one end and a hook at the other. The watch was attached to the hook and the watch was inserted into the waistcoat pocket while the flat chain with the fob on the end hung down the outside. The pull performed two functions: it was decorative, made it easy for the wearer to pull the watch from his pocket to check the time.
