Impressive 18k Antique Banded Agate Earrings

These Earrings! The agates are meticulously matched, to be this perfect they had to fashion an agate ball and cut it in 1/2, one for each side, and do the same for the drop. It is rare to find a pair of agate earrings this magnificent, the gold work, the translucent quality and beauty of the agate. The 18k yellow gold glows and has intricately worked edges with beaded details and curved settings that let the gems be the star. Details.....2.25" long, .69" wide at round top, .44" wide at drop. The earrings were changed from back loaders to french wires in the 20th c. there is some evidence of this on the reverse of the tops. They are in good condition for their age, they date from circa 1860.
