A dramatic sterling silver necklace that marries engraved railroad nails and lapis lazuli beads, such an unexpected and pretty combination. During the building of the Transcontinental Railroad in America it became fashionable to wear jewelry in the form of railroad nails. These are particularly lovely, they have an engraved design at their heads. The glossy midnight blue of the round lapis beads is a dream. Long silver bars and engraved flower links tie the nails and beads together. This necklace is a truly unusual and interesting piece.

The ingredients date from circa 1900-1910. From the Married Chains Collection by Ancient Influences. All of the ingredients in this necklace are recycled and vintage. I love using vintage findings, and am thrilled by the discovery of just the right split ring or hook for a piece.

Details.....The necklace is 20.25" long. The nails measure 1.34" long by 0.29" wide. The flower links measure 5.7mm, the lapis beads are 7.8mm and 9mm.

Each item from this line of Jewelry is unique and incorporates re-purposed Vintage and Antique pieces, small imperfections are to be expected and considered part of their charm.
