A terrific Late Georgian Tassie intaglio set in Yellow Gold.
Tassies are glass intaglios made popular by James Tassie (1735-1799). They commonly featured sayings or portraits of famous or royal persons. The person on this one is wearing a crown, so we can safely assume he is royal, perhaps one of King Georges. The tassie is an Amethyst color purple glass and is in very good condition with some wear to the edges. The mounting is a style often found with stone intaglios a simple rolled bezel, curved back, and simple shank. It tests to be at least 14k gold.
